🧪 NanoNeo is looking for you: Scientist – Nanoparticle / Formulation Chemistry (Berlin, from 1 August 2026) We're building functional, responsive nanoparticles for precision medicine — and we're looking for the person to make and optimize them in the lab.

Who we are

NanoNeo is a young deep-tech startup that has just set out to rethink cancer medicine. We've been awarded the Berlin Startup Scholarship (Berliner Startup Stipendium) and are based at the Startup Villa in Dahlem-Dorf, funded by Science & Startups — the joint incubator of Humboldt University, Charité, Freie Universität and Technische Universität Berlin.

Your role

Using wet-chemical synthesis and formulation, you produce functional, responsive nanogels — from design and systematic optimization to characterization.

Your profile

• Background in chemistry, polymer chemistry, pharmaceutical technology, materials science, nanotechnology or similar — ideally a completed PhD

• Demonstrated experience preparing and characterizing nanogels / nanoparticles (e.g. ionic gelation, crosslinking) — adjacent or not-on-your-CV experience is welcome; tell us about it

• Experience with stimuli-responsive / switchable polymer or biopolymer systems

• Ideally experience with biopolymer- / polysaccharide-based nanogels• Experience with systematic formulation optimization (Design of Experiments)

• Characterization toolkit: DLS / zeta potential, NMR, FT-IR, microscopy

• Access to a lab in Berlin or close ties to a Berlin lab where you can work — alternatively, we may be able to arrange lab access through our incubator

• Registered in and living in Berlin

• Willing to work at least 35 hours per week on-site on campus

• You've never founded your own incorporated company before (a requirement of the scholarship; prior freelance work is usually still fine)

• No other income during the 5 months (a requirement of the Berlin Startup Scholarship)

• Independent, hands-on, and excited to join an early, ambitious team

Deine Rolle

Du stellst per nasschemischer Synthese und Formulierung funktionale, responsive Nanogele her — vom Design über die systematische Optimierung bis zur Charakterisierung.

Dein Profil

• Hintergrund in Chemie, Polymerchemie, Pharmazeutischer Technologie, Materialwissenschaft, Nanotechnologie o. ä. — optimalerweise mit abgeschlossener Promotion (PhD)

• Nachweisliche Erfahrung in der Herstellung und Charakterisierung von Nanogelen / Nanopartikeln (z. B. ionotrope Gelierung, Quervernetzung) — auch angrenzende oder nicht im Lebenslauf gelistete Erfahrung ist willkommen; erzähl uns davon

• Erfahrung mit stimuli-responsiven / schaltbaren Polymer- oder Biopolymer-Systemen• Idealerweise Erfahrung mit biopolymer- / polysaccharid-basierten Nanogelen

• Erfahrung mit systematischer Formulierungs-Optimierung (Design of Experiments)

• Charakterisierungs-Toolkit: DLS / Zeta-Potential, NMR, FT-IR, Mikroskopie• Zugang zu einem Labor in Berlin oder enge Kontakte zu einem Berliner Labor, in dem du arbeiten kannst — alternativ organisieren wir ggf. Zugang über unseren Inkubator

• In Berlin gemeldet und wohnhaft

• Bereitschaft, mindestens 35 Stunden pro Woche vor Ort auf dem Campus zu arbeiten

• Du hast noch nie selbst eine Firma mit Rechtsform gegründet (Voraussetzung des Stipendiums; frühere Freelancer-Tätigkeit ist in der Regel trotzdem möglich)

• Während der 5 Monate keine anderen Einkünfte (Voraussetzung des Berliner Startup Stipendiums)

• Eigenständig, hands-on, Lust auf ein frühes, ambitioniertes Team
